Moving OS drive to a larger SSD

Moving OS (Boot, "C" drive, etc) from a Patriot Wildfire 128GB, to the 256GB Samsung SSD featured in the HW Leaderboard.

Anything to watch out for as far as alignment goes ? I can not think of any issues, and new SSD comes with Norton Ghost. I own Acronis True Image home 2010 as well. I cannot decide which to use.

I have been leaning towards doing a standard backup to an internal hd, then using Acronis boot cd to restore to the new 256gb ssd. Am I missing anything ?

    Regards,
    Chewie

I prefer Acronis but either one should get the job done.

But, if the SSD came with Ghost you might want to try it first. It should be optimized for the drive.

Re: Moving OS drive to a larger SSD

Everything worked out fine. SSD did not come with license key for Norton Ghost, after a few attempts at contacting Samsung about it, I just decided to purchase the latest version of Acronis and that worked out well. Used the Samsung Magician software, made the reccomended tweaks and ended up slightly above expectedf on seq r/w and slighty below on random r/w. Works great no more fear of running out of room.
