I'm building some new computers and I was wondering if high end video cards will produce better on screen gray scale images? I have good monitors, Dell UltraSharps, and the new computers will have i7 3770k processors. If the built in graphics of that processor is good enough then I won't invest in a video card, just have MB with a on board port. If there is a difference I'd like to know and also which might be the best card for viewing digital x-rays.
Still images only? I would guess that it's pretty much entirely down to the quality of the monitor. Graphics cards are for rendering moving images. I'd stick with on-board graphics and buy the best monitors that you can with the money saved.
