    Motherboard issue with RAM

I had bought a G.Skill 8GB set, I thought that it was a DOA set so I took it back and got the Kingston set. I bought KHX1600C9D3B1K2/8GX for my M4A785TD-V-EVO mother board. When I plugged it in, nothing happened (same as the G.Skill set), my PC didn't start, just the fans started. I called the store and the guy suggested that updating my BIOS could help fix the issue. I told my friend who is more knowledgeable than me about the issue and he asked if I checked the QVL for my mother board...I didn't even think to do that (it just shows how noobish i am in regards to hardware).

So I'm wondering if updating the BIOS will allow me to use the RAM, or should I just take it back and look for a set off of the QVL?

    Thanks

try clearing the bios/cmos by unplugging the psu, moving the jumper and removing the battery.

if that doesn't do it, then try each stick in each of the mem slots.

You should also check the memory compatability chart: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...85TDV_EVO/#MSL

I saw the memory compatibility chart after buying/shopping for the RAM, I didn't know it was so strict.

Do BOIS updates update the memory compatibility chart?
