    But you're on Win8, right? I'm on XP and I need a better AHCI driver for XP.

    Check game amd.com they should have XP drivers

    Poci, that AMD driver is the one I tested in this post:

    Update: It seems that my test was flawed because I tested the AMD driver much later after so many writes had been made to the SSD, whereas I tested the Asrock driver when the drive was newly formatted. So I redid the tests, making sure to perform a trim before testing either driver. It turns out that the AMD driver is actually slightly faster than the Asrock driver. Also the AMD driver is more recent - 2009, whereas the Asrock one is 2007, so that makes sense.

    I am ending my search for a better driver. It seems that the AMD driver is the best I could hope to find, given the age of XP. Thanks UD for suggesting the AMD driver!
