Cool would the new haswell pentium be good for a basic system

I want to build a computer for my living room for basic purposes ......I am putting some pieces together from various components - the new 3.0 ghz pentium haswell is 64.00 - would that do the job.....I know the pentiums have had some good reviews.....any advice on the best basic cpu above a sempron or celeron etc. would be appreciated...........

for a basic brows the web , non high end games or heavy threaded apps yes it will fill the bill and pretty decent but a core I3 would be IMO a better choice because it is hyper threaded and has a better intergrated graphics

I think it depends on what you foresee yourself doing with the rig in the future. If all this will ever be is an office/living room PC, the Haswell pentiums are great options. If you think you might one day try to play a few games on it, then you might want to consider the i3 for the little bit of added horsepower. I've got an Ivy Bridge Celeron in my HTPC and it does everything I ask of it with some horsepower to spare, but all it ever does is play movies and TV.
