    SLI 660TI or GTX 770

Hello all earlier this year I upgraded my system to an Intel 3770k with an 16 gigs of Consair memory and ASUS Sabertooth Z77 motherboard. I bought a PNY 660 TI with for this system I was thinking about upgrading my monitor to Yamakasi Catleap Q270SE 27" 2560X1440 Computer Monitor or Yamakasi Catleap Q270SE 27" 2560X1440 Computer Monitor. My question is do I purchase a another 660 TI since I'm sure I can get it cheaper now and put it in SLI mode or do I invest in a GTX 770 and just have a single card to power it. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Re: SLI 660TI or GTX 770

I think 660 Ti SLI should be faster than a single GTX 770, but will definitely consume a good bit more power. The 770 should be enough to drive that 1440P panel pretty well at fairly high settings as long as you don't go nuts with the anti-aliasing settings. My single AMD 7970 did pretty well in BF3 @ 1440P From experience with both SLI and CrossFire, having that second GPU always introduces software complexity that a single GPU will never have, but for the most part its a non-issue. I'm not sure I can answer whether or not the tradeoffs are worth it, just that the 660Ti system should be faster.

I would always recommend getting the fastest possible single GPU setup, so I'd definitely choose the GTX770 (if that is the choice vs 2 660Tis).

Why? There is no dramas with 660Tis in SLI. None, and it will be much faster than a single 770.

It seems there will always be drama with SLI, as problems with e.g. BF4 seem to prove.

660TI is nearly as fast as a stock clocked 770. If you want at least 1.5x the performance of 2x 660TI's go with an HD 7970 or GTX 680/770/780

Can't comment on SLI specifically, but outside of the short-lived texture bug introduced in a patch (quickly patched back out) my CF setup has been trouble free

I have a very similar setup and have tried both on my Z77 Sabertooth. The SLi 660(non Ti) was faster but I had some game issues at the time (Far Cry 3 and I think COD) that made me switch to a 770GTX MSI Lightning. In hindsight, I wish I had stuck with the 660's in SLi as it was faster in almost all games.

Nonsense. Ive been running SLI for a long time, currently 780Ti in SLI, no dramas in BF4 whatsoever.
