difference in a 95w Phenom II cpu and a 95w FX cpu?

I am in process of getting parts together and I dont need cpu but then again...I am starting to get the bug again.

what is the difference in the fx cpu vs the Phenom II ? I was just looking to see what I can bump up to from my Phenom 910 ...

I also see Phenom II 840 listed on ebay...whats that?

obviously I have been out of the loop a while..

An AMD FX 4350 is the fastest quad core, the 6350 is the fastest six core, the 8350 is the fastest eight core. Personally I think the 4350 would be the sweet spot for most users. They go for about $120 on Ebay.

You will definitely see a good increase in performance with a higher clocked FX over a 2.6 Ghz Phenom II. Something like the FX-6350 for $140 (or even the 6300 for $120 and overclock it) would IMO be the best balance of cores vs price. If you are on a budget go for 4-core for $110. If you can afford an 8-core get the 8350 for $200. Not sure if you are a gamer but modern games like Battlefield 4 run great on the 8-core.
