    Need lappy Tech advice

Ok here goes ,I bought a new lappy a dell inspireion with a crappy 1368x798 screen . I found a new replacement with a higher resoulition ,in fact 2 of them one 1600x900 one 1920x1080 / This will be prowered by onboard intel 4000hd and a sandy core I3 . The new screen pinout is exactly the same 40 pin same size . So any reason on the hardware size I should not give it a go ? At 55 bucks plus shipping I do not see why not . Looking for feed back from prople who work on these for a living
But I will apreciate anyfeedback /opinions

It should work. At the very worst, you don't get an increase in resolution. But unless Dell hard coded something into the BIOS to limit the resolution (stranger things have happened!), you should be good to go.

That said, you do so at your own risk.

It's not hard. Pull the battery first. Remember that the connector is delicate, especially on an LED screen.

Thanks for the tip . I just placed the order . I went for the 1600x900 screen. I figured doing HD 1920x1080 on a 15 inch screen is pointless and seeing I have a HDMI conection if I want 1920x1080 My TV or My big dell monitor will do nicely . That way I can save a few bucks . . The price was not bad 66 bucks shipped
Now correct me if I am wrong but 1600x900 on a 15.6 inch screen is 720p ? (WXGA++ (1600x900) HD+ is the oficial spec )

rats had to cancel the order . I should have looked at the picks 1st and not just the specs because while the screen I ordered would plug in , no way to mount it .
Now I am wanting one of these 1920x1080 IPS screens as seen here
    http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/...ATITUDE~E5540/
That is a exact match for what I need would bolt right up and plug right in but their out of stock and a little more pricy . Willy might You know where I could land one of these ? ( The 1st screen in my above link is what I need )

You might check with the seller of this screen:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/15-6-LCD-Scr...item2c6986124f

to see if they have any IPS screens. I order hard to find screens, or ones that I need quickly, from them.

    Thanks for the link
Humm , don't know about ebay , roll the dice on getting a matte or glossy screen . Not a big fan of glossy . Also that link does not say if it is a IPS screen . I am going to chew on this for a while , tired right now . I just spent 2 hrs looking a lappy screens , I am cross eyed LOL . I am also in no hurry . That is what almost got a a screen I could not use . Guess I could have super glued the thing in.

I was reading a few post on notebook forum that said possiby I would need some special vidieo cable to get HD . I would think 40 pin is 40 pin , but I could be wrong and that was on a different lappy .
I have dug thru many screens even foung a 40 pin 1366x768 IPS screen
    http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/...560~ULTRABOOK/

found out that asus and dell share a lot of the same screens as this looks the same
    http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/...K~UX51VZ-XH71/ (but out of stock)
Finding a lot of the 15.6 IPS screens out of stock at laptop screens .com ( that sucks )

I am kinda hoping to fuse these guys , their customer service at laptopscreens.com seems good and they have a good warentee . I believe 3 yrs so that would beat ebay by a mile . They responed the same day !
I might just wait for a spell maybe the one I want will come in stock

No, I was saying contact the seller of that screen to ask for the one you want. I think you may have trouble finding IPS, but these people will know.

    http://www.amazon.com/ZENBOOK-UX51VZ...ment+screen%27
Not a bad price what do You think ? I am seeing the mounting holes as the same and its a slim 40 pin panel
only downside is its glossy but I am finding few options so I might have to settle

Maybe. You should take the old screen off and get the make and model off the back. This will make it much easier to cross reference what will work. Also, take a picture of the back so we can make sure the connector is in the right place.

We'll see. Sometimes the screens for Asus are slightly different dimensions. It depends upon how it actually mounts whether it will work or not.
