.....hackers were trying to access my wife's computer and to get on NOW and they will help us protect it. Any truth to this? Is MS Windows really concerned about this computer? (caller has Indian accent) I'm suspecting someone is trying to sell me something, but what do you guys think?

My dumb ass sister got caught in a similar scam through AOL. It's actually a link on their site to a company to "clean" malware remotely for $250)Had to read them the riot act and threaten legal action unless they refunded her money.

This guy sets up a backup computer with nothing he cares about on it and proceeds to torment one of these a-hole scammers for over an hour.

I've seen this scam more than I care to admit.
1. Microsoft has millions of customers around the globe. There is no way they are going to make phone calls to their customers to warn them of a virus.
2. Microsoft has millions of customers around the globe. They don't care about the individual as much as you think they might.
3. Microsoft has millions of customers around the globe. You get the point....
I do have to say that having a scammer with an Indian accent call does add to the realism.
