It doesn't help that we couldn't find your name to add you to steam and you went afk in-game. lol. It was definitely fun to play some good old games such as UT2004, Quake Live, Team Fortress 2, and some CS:GO.

*Raises both hands* Agreed that it was a fun event, esp. playing some of the classics like UT & Quake (Live). Looking forward to the next time...

Event Planning (PCPer Front page article)
It's time for the PCPer virtual LAN party #8

It's going to be the same basic format as our August 9 Virtual LAN party.

Btw, you can view a list of past Fragging Frog events (including past VLANs) and other gaming info in our Gaming Sticky Mega Thread. Be sure to check it out.

This is a summary of the format. Of course we are open to suggestions for change.

    1. We normally choose a few games that there is a common interest in playing starting with our favorites like Battlefield 4 then adding additional games. Fragging Frog classics like UT2004 or Killing Floor are always solid alternatives if we need a change. I'm always trying to get some non-shooter games in the mix, such as an RPG like Torchlight II for example. Other suggestions are welcome! I personally would love to play some Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare

Post your game suggestions to this thread.

    2. I'll keep this first post updated with all important information so COME BACK OFTEN for the latest.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be NO set start/end times for particular games. All that will be decided in real time over TEAMSPEAK. So you are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to join TeamSpeak for this event even if you have never joined in the past. Although we attempt to update this thread with the current game being played it doesn't always happen so if you are not on TeamSpeak you may get lost and lose track of what's going on. The TeamSpeak server info is listed further down in this post.

Please post to this thread if you plan to attend this event. I will maintain a list of players below who plan to attend the event.

    Event Info

Start time: Saturday November 8 10:00 AM ET
End time: Sunday November 9 2:00 5:00 AM ET

    Teamspeak (ALL players should join)

Brandito's TeamSpeak 3 Server - click here for connection info

    Teamspeak RULES (** IMPORTANT **)
    1. RESPECT and be considerate of others in your channel
    2. Use PTT (Push to Talk) whenever possible
    3. Don't talk over others who are speaking
    4. When you speak try to KEEP IT SHORT (you are sharing the channel with MANY others)
    5. Join a channel in which others are playing the same game (note the name of the channels)
    6. If you need a new channel, create one yourself or ask an ADMIN for help
(NOTE: Teamspeak Admins always float to the top of each channel)
    7. Admins reserve the right to KICK or BAN you if your behavior is inconsistent with our expectations

    How to Join us in-game
Some games like Battlefield 4 depend on following players into a server.
Here are links to threads of Origin/Battlelog and Steam user names for many of our members.
If you send friend requests to the top few you should be set.
Feel free to send those friends requests in advance of the VLAN event.

Quick Start: Send a friends request to me, FFLenny on Origin/Battlelog and fflenny on Steam.

I had so much fun. Been in introvert mode the last couple days since the VLAN to process everything. You guys filled up my (passworded) 32-player dedicated server for TF2! HOLY CRAP!

I just uploaded a bunch of screenshots from TF2 and a couple from UT2004. You can view them on my
    steam profile.

    Here's a taste:
    Spoiler!

    Spoiler!

This last one is for Ryan:
    Spoiler!

Thank you everyone for such a fantastic day, and thank you to all of the moderators and others who made the event possible!

Had a blast playing with everyone. Bummer about the TS server taking a dump, but we'll file that one back under "lessons learned" for VLAN9

Thanks to all who helped support the event, and all those who played. I am looking forward to the next one!

Thanks for posting the screenshots Cannonaire. Me on the bumper car LOL.

We seem to be on an every 3-month schedule so I will VERY tentatively say that perhaps early Feb would be next.

TS3 server has been migrated to a new vps hosting company. NFO servers is the host now. They're geared towards gamers so I think they'll be a better fit. Server has better isolation and slightly better specs. Bandwidth also looks really good. Getting ~850Mbit down and ~300Mbit up. Should save myself and everyone else a few headaches, I'm hoping!

    ASUS Sabertooth P67 / Win7 Pro
    Intel i7 2600k @ 4.4ghz (44 x 100) + Corsair H100
    Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 x 16GB
    2 x XFX R9 280x + 3 x Asus VS24AH-P 24" IPS 1920x1200

I love NFO Servers!!! Every game server I have ever had was an NFO Server. When I can afford to do an ArmA 3 server, it will be an NFO server.

NFO is great, I have been using them for years now. BFBC2, MoH, BF3, Minecraft, Killing Floor, and voice. Great bunch of people over there, very quick to respond to tickets at all hours of the day and night. =]
