Are you planning to buy a 4K monitor for gaming soon?

    Hello Everyone,

Im conducting a poll to help my colleagues at work get an idea about 4K Gaming, specifically 4K monitors.

Id like to know if you are planning to purchase a 4K monitor in the near future. In addition, could you please post your thoughts as well? (Listing the Pros & Cons for whether you are planning to buy one or not).

    Thank you in advance!

Good point. Is there a way to add it in?

I'm at 1440P and its mostly "good enough". My GPU's should be capable of 4K gaming, so thats not holding me back. I'm just more concerned about desktop usability than gaming to be honest... I don't really want to upgrade to Windows 8.1, and I'm under the impression that text scaling is not great in Windows 7. At 28" I'd probably be stuck between tiny text and horrible scaling, though a 32" might not be too bad. I guess I'm also waiting for the 4K monitor market to mature a bit, price/quality/feature-wise. I'd love 4K IPS with freesync

4K means you're likely going to end up in a vicious upgrade cycle. There'd need to be a huge leap in graphics processing power with a corresponding price cut for me to consider it.

Besides, I'm pretty content with 3 matching 1200p displays.

    Hi guys! Happy New Year!

I just realized I forgot the word "card" in option 3 - is there a way to edit it?

If you're changing up the poll, I'd change 1080p to 1080p/1200p.

I chose "I want a 4k display but can’t afford it", mainly because there are a lot of things I want, but can't afford, 4K monitor or TV being 2 of them. I would also like a car that goes really fast and gets really shitty gas mileage, huge pectoral muscles, and for O-Dog to suck at gaming when he is on the opposing team.

Re: Are you planning to buy a 4K monitor for gaming soon?

    That's a really tough question...

Would I want a 4K display? Short answer is yes, but it's going to depend on a few things.

I will be upgrading my display, but first and foremost I want a FreeSync supported display. Secondly will be cost.

I am considering either a single large display or 3-way Eyefinity, I currently run a single primary display with a second for "work" and monitoring. So the secondary would display would stay.

If I go with a new single large display, I would like it to have the highest refresh rate possible, be at least 27 inches, and at least 1440. So in this case I might also consider a 4K display and stay at 60Hz, a lot is going to depend on cost and availability.

If I go with an Eyefinity setup, then I will go with 3x 1080, 1440, or 1600 displays at the highest refresh rate available.

So I guess for me, it's all going to depend on what path I choose to go down, what's available at that time, and how much it's going to cost me.

Chances are the large single display will win, simply because I am lacking desk space in my office, but we will see.

Sorry for the complicated answer. =/

For productivity usage I'd love the real estate offered by a 4k display. For gaming right now I think I'll stick with something less mainly because I don't want to sacrifice game performance (frame rate). I'm not even considering monitor cost in this post. When a single GPU at an average price point can drive 4k then I'll reconsider and then it will have to be IPS 144 Hz Freesync

I really have two answers. While I would like a 4K monitor, but can't afford it. I would also say that my 1200p monitors are just fine.
