For general use, I don't see any real reason to use more than 8 GB of ram.
It's not going to do any good unless you do a lot of Photoshopping or rendering.

Yeah on a laptop unless your one of the very few with a beast of a laptop 8 gigs is enough. other parts will be more of a bottleneck before more ram is needed.
