Processor upgrade worth while?

My current build

AMD 6300 FX 3.5this black
16 gb ram
500 gb solid state
Xfx Radeon 290

Would it be worth my while to upgrade to the 8370. I do play games a lot and am worried the the gpu outclassed the cpu. Any thoughts. 8370 is the best cpu my mobo can take.

Not a lot of games really take advantage of 8 core cpu's. The 4350 quad core would be a better upgrade with a stock clock of 4.2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819113326 Unless you're doing something that requires as many cores as possible save the money.

Not a lot of programs need 8 cores.

However; AMD CPUs stink for gaming.

So if you're going to upgrade your CPU you should wait until you can afford afford to upgrade to intel rather than investing in AMDs old, dead technology.

Buying any AMD cpu now is like going back to 2006 level performance, notice how the 8350 can't even keep up with a 4.5 year old 2500K? They just stink.

On the bright side, GPU is what is mainly important and you have a very good GPU. I'd stay put.

Not an issue of cost. I just wanted to buy a 2nd 290 for crossfire. I got a Gigabyte GA-Z97x and a I7 4790k from the local Microcenter for $424. Money well spent but the second 290 will just have to wait.

I've been having some temperature issues with the I7. It just gets hot but hasn't locked up. Even with water cooling the temp has gotten to 100c. Gigabyte says this is acceptable.

A CPU upgrade would be beneficial but i would honestly wait until zen comes out or until kaby lake releases.

EDIT yeah nice call on the 4790k. I have one myself.

I used to be a big AMD fan , till they shot themselfs in the foot with bulldoser , then pliedriver was a pile , a pile of Sh*t
Go with a intel shylake and a new board . some ddr4 and you will be set for the next 3 years a I5 would do nice
