    Back from the dead

Howdy do folks, long time no see. I finally have a somewhat reliable internet connection that can handle WU uploads again. I hope they aren't too big nowadays as I do have a bandwidth cap but I guess I will find out soon enough.

52nd place kinda stinks, hopefully I can help us at least get ahead of our old nemesis/friends Icrontic, we used to have some serous battles in the top 10 back in the day.

Just downloaded the client here at the house and will try to get a couple other rigs setup now that winter is upon us and heat is a good thing. Where 2 of my machines are heat is an issue so they wont be able to fold during the summer but for now I will get them going again and we will see what we can do

My rig at my house and my gaming rig at a buddys house, both should be able to crunch a few. I cant remember the details on them, but they both have big video cards lol.

    Re: Back from the dead

House rig says it should do 40,000 pts a day in the advanced console. The other one should be faster, still waiting to see the stats update, have sent in quite a few WUs already since last night.

The rig at my buddy's says it will average 8000 pts a day? That one should be faster, which makes me wonder if I screwed up the install and left the GPU out. Stanford says I have 3 clients when I should have 4. I might have to revisit that install and redo it.

    Re: Back from the dead

Hmm. Stanford still shows only three clients, no change at all on the extreme overclockin stats. Somethings not right.
The logs show units being completed and sent up without errors for both the cpu and the gpu. The rig I thought would be faster probably shouldn't, It has an Intel I7 960 @3.20Ghz but it only has a GeForce GTX 550 Ti which is probably the difference. I am guessing that Asus R9 290 at the house is the big difference.

Any Ideas on why only three clients are showing at Stanford?
Is the Extreme Overclocking site not updating lately?

    Re: Back from the dead

Stanford does show I have submitted a bunch of WUs as opposed to the EXtreme OC stats, so I guess it will catch up.

Still curious about the three clients though

    Yeah,

EOC stats just had a major update...Don't know what happened to cause that.

If you have really beefy video cards, you might be better off just letting the GPU's do their thing as they require a full core of the processor to keep feeding the GPU.

    Re: Back from the dead

The video card here at the house is supposed to be able to do 34k a day but it is just sitting at 99%. If the CPU is folding it cannot allow the GPU to work when the GPU is a hoss?

let me turn the CPU off and see what happens...

edit - I have the cpu client set to use only 7 threads on a eight core cpu, lets see if that will help things. Estimated points went up a bit, hopefully that will fix it

    Good Grief!!

There is one about to finish on that R9 290 video card that is estimated to score over 60,000 points and only took a half day

That's just nuts, I probably had 5 rigs run a month and not make that back in the day

Yeah, Just make sure you have one of the passkeys enabled for the "bonus" points to be applied.

And my PPD's are coming from just 2 video cards.

Yup the PPD has exploded in the last few years

Takes 10 completed WU with the passkey for the bonus to be enabled.

iirc you also need to have better than an 80% completion rate as well.
