Regular use of 16.04.1 (clean install) and comparison with a parallel 14.04.5 legacy installation running beside it shows serious defects in the new UBUNTU 16.04.1 OS. To bullet a few issues from a casual (everyday/exclusive) users perspective :
1) On-boot crash of USB system(s) ... requiring self-catch and re-boot(?) of those components. Eventually (25 sec) all USB ports work.
Suggestion: Use Fedora 24 Workstation or Antergos Arch. You can also use LinuxMint but I find Fedora to be more stable and up to date. My Fedora 24 server is rocking Kernel 4.7.5.
I bet you have made the superior choice - - Fedora = serious desktop computing. OTOH Cannonical has 90% kissed-off its desktop PC software providing an Ubuntu_16.04 product weak in fundamentals and built for squintsville cell-phones ... such pure BS the "UNITY" concept and execution. NO I DO NOT want a candyman GUI unified with icon-drooling snot-nose 11-yo tweeters ... in fact I want a GUI that pokes-out cell-phone usrs eyes ... and is **inoperable** without my beefy hardware .
I do have a huge opportunity-cost ( since v6.06 ) invested in Ubuntu and am loath to swallow it excepting the most serious ( ex// M$ eats UBUNTU ) agro.
