    Re: President Trump

Glad this isn't the Obama administration, what pages of outrage and celebration there would be...

Trump tries a victory lap, but probes encroach
Washington (CNN)What was meant to be a celebratory tour of the Midwest on Thursday turned sour for President Donald Trump when he learned federal prosecutors were looking to question his company's longtime financial boss.

Phoning his attorneys and other confidantes from behind his desk on Air Force One, Trump sought more details about what precisely the Southern District of New York wanted to know from Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization's chief financial officer who is so close to the President he once appeared on "The Apprentice."
For Trump, the news added another unfortunate layer to his growing frustration at the swirling legal questions now clouding both his administration and his business. Trump's mood, people inside the White House say, has grown dark as his longtime fixer Michael Cohen executes a very public breakup. Even as he worked to exude confidence about a roaring economy and handshake deal with Europe, the encroaching troubles made for another agony-and-ecstasy week.

No: And as for admiration I am sure the man who powders most, parfumes most, embroiders most, and talks most nonsense, is most admired.

Sure. OK. Damn that economy thing.
Trump threatens government shutdown if Democrats don't back immigration reform
    • President Donald Trump called on Congress to fix immigration laws in a series of Twitter posts.
    • He threatened to 'shut down' the federal government if Democrats refused to back his demands for reform, including a border wall.

I guess we know who really has to pay for it. Mexico isn't even mentioned anymore. Funny how deficit spending only counts when a democrat is in office.

Of course. The same Politifac that showed a 2.6% quarter under Obambi as a sign of a great economy.

He's back to showing his big boy pants debating skeels with the Einsteinian method of copying and pasting anything he can find on the internet.

As an aside... neo-nazi stuff is shown one by one, but BLM stuff must only be shown as an organized event. Dem's da otoc rulez.

^^ Throw that into the same bucket as micro-aggressions, esteem building, participation ribbons, etc. The collective "we" have spent so much time and effort on such things, that far too many expect something for nothing.

    We've got an epidemic of
    • "kids" in the mid and upper 20s living in basements
    • people actively seeking a cause for offense
    • people wondering why they feel empty / life is hopeless
    • people living two completely different lives, one online and the other in the real world. Invariably the online persona is a much less civilized, much more belligerent fella. Unfortunately, the online persona leaks into the real world more and more.

I could go on, but you get the idea. We've come to a point where we discourage excellence lest someone else's feelings be hurt. We place blame anywhere but in the mirror. Courtesy has gone the way of the Edsel, the Commodore 64, or Netscape, depending on your age.

Policy decisions aside, and I agree with many, Trump is the antithesis of courtesy and respect for one's fellow humans. Sure, I get it that loud-mouths from both sides seem to find audiences, and Trump's public behavior fits right in with such folks. I guess I just wish he had a little more Reagan in him. That guy knew how to get things done without being such an @ss. Heck, any other President has been able to handle themselves with more public decorum than Trump. I don't much care what he has to say in private to make things happen, he doesn't need to be such a troll every time he discusses people or groups with whom he disagrees.

My fear isn't that he gets his way. My fear is that he leaves our country nastier for the experience.

The Republicans have been trying the "nice guy" stuff for so long they forgot it doesn't work. Going by world history I'm not sure it ever has. Had they been foolish enough to run Cruz or....God, I forgot his name...against Hillary we'd be sitting here tonight debating with otoc why a first strike in nuclear war with Russia isn't a good idea or why we're all upset about Hillary's choice of a known socialist for a Supreme court pick. Is Trump a bull in a china shop? Sure. I wouldn't want it any other way either. The man gets things done more than any President since I've been on this planet, all while enduring a level of abuse and lies from the MSM and the degenerate freak mafia on the left that no President has ever had to endure.

You speak of Reagan with high esteem but remember it was Reagan that granted amnesty to almost 3 million illegal immigrants and how did they thank him? By helping to turn California into a strong blue state. Thanks a LOT Ronnie! You had great public decorum, but I'll take the bull.

    Re: President Trump

I'll take Trump in a heartbeat over Hillary or any of the other Ds that ran. And no, I didn't agree with everything Reagan did. My point was that I feel he often "won" public discourse, whether against foreign leaders, opposition party members, or people within his own party. At the same time, I don't think he was afraid to take off the gloves in private conversation if that's what it required.

Politicians today from both parties are too often walking / talking public relations nightmares. Hillary was the "best" the Democrats had to offer, and her career is paved with outright contempt for the common person and you need a barge to carry all the baggage. Trump's undoing a lot of Obama's pen legislation and Obama's grovelling before foreign heads of State, awesome, but he's also dragging around loads of his own baggage and I believe at risk of alienating common sense, middle ground people that he'll need to win the next election. Then again, maybe the Ds will veer even further left and give another election to the Republicans by default.

Eh, end of the day it probably is as simple as Slick Willie said. If the economy stays the course for the next couple of years Trump will get a second term.

Ruhroh... if ya like polls... Trump hit 50% today.
5 points higher than Obama at the same time in his tenure.
    More Russia, Russia needed.

And an aside on other polls, business folks are very supportive of Trump's tariffs... against Mexico, the EU, China, etc. That doesn't fit the MSM narrative. Could they be peddling fake news again?
