Why does Ryzen 7 1800X performs so poorly in games?

Why does Ryzen 7 1800X performs so poorly in games?

I was expecting it to be able to keep up with the Intel Core i7-6900K.

Taylor then recognizes the performance concerns at 1080p with attribution to those deficits going to years of optimizations for Intel processors. It's difficult, if not impossible, to know for sure how much weight this argument has, but it would make some logical sense. Intel CPUs have been the automatic, defacto standard for gaming PCs for many years, and any kind of performance optimizations and development would have been made on those same Intel processors. So it seems plausible that simply by seeding Ryzen to developers and having them look at performance as development goes forward would result in a positive change for AMD's situation.

I was shocked by some results... it's slower than lower clocked Haswell-E in games

    Core i7-5960X vs Ryzen 7 1800X

    - Battlefield 1: 17,1% faster
    - Crysis 3: 5% faster
    - Dishonored 2: 19.5% faster
    - Deus Ex (DX11): 21.8% faster
    - Fallout 4: 4.4% faster
    - Hitman: 28.8% faster
    - Rise of the Tomb Raider: 58.4% faster
    - Total War: 3.7% slower
    - Watch Dogs 2: 15.5% faster
    - The Witcher 3: 46.1% faster

The Ryzen 1700 performs on par with the i7-6900k in gaming and it costs 1/3rd of the 6900K.

Hi, The latest I read was that the Game creators are going to be looking at optimization for Ryzen users. Hopefully it will be successful. But honestly, for me, the main thing is that Ryzen is not made by Intel. It is better than Intel in some aspects of computing, and nearly as good in games.

    This is good news

The fact that it would not be better with I7 6900K might be true, but they are optimizing their software everyday and we might be see some improvement here. For me its already good because the price is half of it and if we talk about the price to performance. Ryzen is far better than I7.

Here's the 1700X doing better than the 6900K in gaming.

I would get a 1700 and oc it to 1800X's speed tho.

The Ryzen cpus seem to run better at 1440p or higher. Though most games aren't optimized for Amd Ryzen architecture.
