GPU for Dell Studio XPS 9100

PC desktop has:
990X 6core CPU
AMD Radeon HD6700 GPU
24GB RAM

please advise on a compatible GPU

Reason for upgrade: playing Steam games, it drags/lags/stalls/stutters/freezes and crashes, NOT all the time, but it happens too often I figured this "might" be a GPU issue..

Please advise...

Got itchy and bought a EVGA GeForce 1050 Ti, will get it soon and see what happens..

Got itchy and bought a EVGA GeForce 1050 Ti, will get it soon and see what happens..

After installing EVGA GeForce 1050 Ti, EVERYTHING that didn't work on Steam games, now works perfectly!
Just wondering: WHY would Steam allow downloads on games that need upgraded GPU's? These games "should" work on a cell phone, let along a higher end PC...
