Fraser Anning: Australia MPs condemn 'final solution' speech

An Australian senator has been widely condemned for a speech that invoked the term "final solution" in a call for immigration restrictions based on race.

Fraser Anning, from the conservative Katter's Australian Party, called for migration bans on Muslims and others in his maiden Senate speech on Tuesday.

Political opponents denounced his speech as "disgraceful". Mr Anning said he did not need to apologise.

"Final solution" was a term infamously used by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

In his speech, Mr Anning said "the final solution to the immigration problem is a popular vote".

On Wednesday, lawmakers across the political divide moved to pass parliamentary motions censuring Mr Anning for his "racist hate speech", noting in particular his use of the phrase "final solution", and his "false, misleading and hurtful statements" about Muslim Australians and other immigrant groups.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said Mr Anning had made "a shocking insult to the memory" of those murdered in the Holocaust.
Australian Senator Slammed for Blaming New Zealand Attack on Muslim Immigration

As news broke of an mass shooting at two New Zealand mosques, an Australian senator blamed the attack on Muslim immigration. “Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?” Queensland senator Fraser Anning said in a now-deleted tweet of the attack that left 49 people dead in Christchurch, New Zealand. “As always, left-wing politicians and the media will rush to claim that the causes of today’s shootings lie with gun laws or those who hold nationalist views, but this is all cliched nonsense,” the right-wing Australian parliament member added in a written statement (which earned a “Nailed it!” from former White House official Carl Higbie). “The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand n the first place.”

Dude.....try and get grip on it......your continued racist attacks are pretty weak minded. Apply your same asinine racist logic to this:

Nice attack: What we know about the Bastille Day killings

    "Who were the victims?
Eighty-six people were killed, all but three of them at the time of the attack. The dead included 10 children and teenagers.

A total of 303 people were taken to hospital for medical treatment. A man who was badly injured in the assault died on 4 August, taking the total number of those killed to 85."

New Zealand PM Ardern Urges Her Nation To Make Gunman 'Nameless'

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, in her first speech to her nation's Parliament after last week's terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch, said the gunman should be denied the publicity he was seeking.

"That's why you will never hear me mention his name," said Ardern. "He is a terrorist, he is a criminal, he is an extremist. But he will, when I speak, be nameless."

The alleged shooter had written a 74-page screed promoting his white supremacist views and had livestreamed his attack on the Al Noor mosque in Christchurch.

"He may have sought notoriety, but we in New Zealand will give him nothing. Not even his name," she said.
Christchurch mosque shootings: How Australia changed its gun laws after Port Arthur massacre

In the days that followed the Port Arthur massacre, Australia moved to ban semi-automatic weapons. More than 20 years later, New Zealand looks set to follow suit.

The April 1996 Port Arthur massacre, in which 35 people were killed, is the deadliest mass shooting in Australia's history. It prompted a massive overhaul of the country's gun control laws, after killer Martin Bryant used two military style semi-automatic rifles to carry out his deadly spree.

Then Prime Minister John Howard led the development of strict gun control laws, restricting the private ownership of semi-automatic rifles, semi-automatic shotguns and pump-action shotguns, as well as introducing uniform firearms licensing.

"The bitter irony with this alleged perpetrator in Christchurch is he would not have been able to buy the weapons he had in his home country of Australia," said Chris Cahill, president of the Police Association, over the weekend.

"Immediately after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996 the then Prime Minister John Howard acted swiftly to ban semi-automatic weapons and Australians were with him."

Just months after taking office, Howard moved quickly to push for new laws which banned automatic and semi-automatic weapons, established a comprehensive national firearm registration, and an amnesty period for prohibited and unregistered weapons to be surrendered.

In the "buy-back" scheme, the Australian government purchased 700,000 firearms.

The attempts to reform gun laws in Australia were still controversial.

Hundreds of thousands of people protested the campaign; Howard even wore a bullet-proof vest when speaking to an angry crowd.

However, the new laws were changed and remain Howard's defining legacy.

I don’t believe anybody can guarantee change equals safety. This ain’t Australia bubba... That’s like saying socialism is a good change. Maybe for you, not me. Gun Control and socialism are identical twin sisters. If you don’t want guns move to Australia. 300 million guns most people won’t turn in because big brother says they have to. You might as well piss on your boots it ain’t going to happen in this lifetime... It certainly would make the gun black market soar on the DOW...
