Do you ever change your mind?

I've been on the interwebs for a fair time, and it strikes me that most internet "debates" consist of two sides shouting at each other and ignoring everything the other person has said. It seems to me that if you care about a issue enough to post about it in public then you are a fanatic, and not open to persuasion.

So I ask: have you EVER changed your opinion in a significant way about an important social matter due to something that you read on the internet?

Please note that I do not think becoming more extreme counts. I mean, did you change from agreeing to disagreeing, or vice versa? If so, what was it it, and what changed your mind?

To put my cards on the table: not really, because there are very few views that I hold strongly. In my experience pretty much all social issues are complicated, and if they have a solution at all it's going to be complicated as well, and probably only a partial solution. The reason we haven't (for example) solved crime is not because we haven't been harsh enough (look up The Bloody Code, and its lack of success) or liberal enough, but because it's insanely complicated, and probably a fundamental part of some human's nature.

You know what your generalization is not always true in all cases and all of time. Iím 71 years old Iíve seen many good times Iíve seen a whole lot of bad times. More than you will ever see in your lifetime. All the political unrest we see right now is manufactured by the Mainstream Media and a deeply rooted socialist communist radical movement in this country. Take the time to read about the history of socialism and communism it ainít pretty. There was a time in my life when I witnessed the savagery and genocide of communism. Will I ever except socialism and communism the answer is a flat out no. Thereís no room for persuasion itís that bad. When the radical left can regulate free speech thereís a problem a big big problem we see it on the social networks every day. When the radical left regulates free speech in every college and university in this country thereís another big big problem. When the radical left can speak their mind and say whatever they want to and I canít itís a big problem and a personal insult. Most of the agitators in this country be it the government, the media or Antifa have never done a dam thing in their life that made a difference for anybody else. Itís all about ME not you... In my private life I donít see racism, I donít see homophobia I donít see any kind of phobias. I donít see any of the stuff the Anti-American socialists are pushing like drugs. Itís nonsense.

I am strong in my beliefs and I will not waiver... Thatís my nickels worth... Thanks...

This can be considered personal insult within the meaning of the rules. Again: your debate is with his arguments, not him. He at least can behave.

^^^ The two John’s are considered war heroes by some that means I can be a war hero. I have more ribbons on my chest than either of them... Not that I want to be a hero, not that I ever wanted to be a hero. Most importantly I’m not a hero... A little respect is what I want...

I earned mine that’s something John Kerry can’t say...
