Any idea how I can get around the problem with the KK266-R MoBo and my SB Live! ?
I had no issues with it and my Abit KT7A MoBo, now I have the SB Live issue with this MoBo and tried all I can think of..... any ideas?
Thanks,
J

I put the SB Live in slot 3. The 0426 BIOS then fixed my problems.
Supposedly Bios dated 0426 or newer or VIA 4n1 4.32 resolves the problem. (I would use both) Also try using slot3.

Hey guys... yeah doing all that... to no avail![]()
When I had my sblive in the system, the only proggy that fixed my problems was the George E. Breese patch. I used both v.10 and .14 and both seemed to work fine. You can find them on viahardware.com somewhere under the link 'tweaks' or something like that.
Note after installing this patch you will loose a lot of memory bandwith. Running Sandra tests scored 20-30 points lower in both alu & fpu. But then again this is only a synthetic benchmark so perhaps there is no real performance loss.
just wondering ,did any of you find a big difference with SB live over the onboard sound?
i have just got rid of my kt7a-R mobo for this IWILL ,i had no probs in it with SB live ,but im kind of happy with this onboard sound though, what about you'se????????????????

sblive, hercules prophet2 ultra,ENERMAX 550watt psu, boston accoustics BA7500G,scsi burner,52 degrees full load after 2 hours of C.Strike with an ambient of 28 degrees
IWILL kk266-R ,1.2 axia "y"@1470,wbk-38, 512mb corsair xms150 ,sblive,
Abit KT7A-R, 1.2 axia "y" @ 1470 ,wbk-38,256mb micron pc133,sblive,hercules prophet2 mx400,scsi burner,
The onboard sound is not as good as an SBLive!, but still it's decent. I'm only using the onboard CMedia sound because it cut down on occurances of data corruption (even after upping my bios rev and via drivers).
WinXP Pro (RC2) has very good support for AMD/Via combos, and now I have a totally reliable system (Finally!).

Asus A7N8X v2.0, Barton 2500+ @ 3200+, 2x256MB Muskin lv2 PC3500, Gainward GF4 Ti4200, 80GB Seagate 7200.7, LiteOn 12x DVDRom, Antec True Power 480 all in an Addtronics 6896A case. OS - up in the air right now Win2k or Debian Linux.
Even with the 0426 BIOS and the VIA 4.32's my problems did not clear up until I disabled the SB16 Emulation as descibed here (scroll about halfway down).
Since then I have had no problems.
