USB enabled yet still no USB support!

Hi there,

I still can't get any USB peripherals to be detected on my IWILL KA266-R motherboard. I have upgraded the bios to 08/05/2001 and have enabled USB support in the BIOS. Windows detected and installed correctly the USB controller and there are no conflicts. Yet when I plug in ANY USB device, windows just sits there looking at me - doesn't even make an attempt to look busy. It does nothing. This is really annoying as I just purchased a USB wacom graphics tablet, and can't get it to work!!

Can anyone offer any advice? I'm using windows98 (not SE)

I have the same problem with 98SE, ZIP works but have tried three different scanners with no luck. In addition to what you see below I have updated 4in1 drivers(4.32)

I would do a search for USB here in the forum and see what comes up. I know a number of people have reported USB problems, but this forum has way more KK than KA users apparently and the FAQ is definitely KK oriented. Win98 was iffy in USB support anyway as best as I can understand the problem. I don't personally use any USB at this time but have setup at least one KK board to use USB and with the MS USB 98se patch, found it to work fine, BUT I did power the USB devices through a 'powered' USB port that connected to the computer. I did this because of so many posts concerning underpowered USB ports at the computer.

There is also much knowledge at USBman.com if the URL comes to memory correctly.

I have a KK266, but have just got it & set up the usb no probs...

I installed Win98se, then the 4in1 (missing out the ATPI one) then installed the TWO USB updates as described in the FAQ on here, they should be installed in a certain order as well..
I'm running a Wacom Tablet, Canon S800 printer & Casio QV3000 digi camera off the ports/hub ( the wacom wouldn't work through the hub on my last board so I just plugged it straight into one of the mobo ports on this board )
