Talking Anyone try this for cooling?

Well, its a very strange way to cool, but I have done it for 6 months, and its dropped my temps about 20 degrees F. When I am running my computer, I take off the side of my case, and stick a dual windows fan blowing right into the case. The window fan is wedged between my desk and the case, and it works great. When the computer is on, the side of the case goes back on. Great way to keep things cool! Let me know what you think.

I've thought of doing that! 20F? nice!

no need for case fans, and I can bet those fans are pretty quiet too.

How much money are they? I bet i could find one in wal-mart. hehe, walmart for hardcore computer cooling

Well it might work but its not very practical. It much get annoying having to take of the side of the case over and over again. Why not just buy some case fans? or do some kind of nice case mod

Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is a 'windows fan'?

Are you actually talking about a mains powered desk fan?

Ya, I guess your right Gangsta_D but id still take a nice pair of case fans over having to fumble with the side of my case every time I turn it on

Going to sound kind of nuts, but:

I have a medical device for my sleep apnea, called a CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure). It outputs about 6ml of dry, cooler than ambient air, so I stuck an old hose for the device through an aperature in the back and angled it to blow on my HSF. Dropped my temp by 10C immediately. My wife thinks I have lost my mind, but the air generator is whisper quiet...
