Volcano 7 ?

I recently bought and received a Volcano 7 fan and am wondering a few things. On the bottom of the fan it has a white sticker protector that you must remove before usuage. Now, is there any thermal paste on this heatsink or do I need to put my own on. I have bought the artic 3 thermal paste and wanted to apply it to this heatsink but didn't know if this heatsink has a manufacturer thermal paste. All help is greatly appreciated.

Remove the sticker and that black crap is some thermal compound/pad that Thermaltake includes. Use some alcohol and a little elbow grease and remove it. Then thinly apply some Arctic Silver 2 or 3 to the cpu core. The unit will work much better and it will be cooler!

Yes, use the new thermal compound after removing the old thermal tape with Isop. Alcohol and gentle scraping with an old credit card.

Worked fine on my Vol #7.
Running a XP 1600 with fan reveresed and at 7V. MBM show 38-39C.

Fine, just be careful of small nicks.

I just got my Volcana 7 today...that black junk on the bottom of the heat sink is from another planet. It's working very well for me...a drop of 5-6c and much quieter than what I had. It's a great buy for the money.
