What Is Your Favorite Military Post 1950 Aircraft?
Hey guys and gals a thread started over in the Folding Forum talking about various aircraft with the primary hit on WWII. However thought it would be neat to move the fun over here to get it in front of more people.
This will be for “general” talk about your experiences or just plan fun of telling us why you like a specific plane(s). However don’t want any “debates" & “flaming” but it would be nice it you make specific claims you provide the data. In my case a lot of the ones I’ll mention will be a subjective “I like this plane” be it for strictly looks or whatever.
However to make it easier for y’all to talk or read about aircraft you like thought to divide it up so there will be 4 threads……..

Re: What Is Your Favorite Military Post 1950 Aircraft?
My dad's last assignment was at HQ Marine Corps on the Navy side of Andrews AFD in D.C. and absolutely hated it for the reasons discussed over in the other thread. Seems the desk jockies from the funny shaped building would come out to do their 4 hours a month to keep flight status.
Pop's shop would get the bitch sheet after the flight complaining about stuff not working. The shop would trouble shoot and determine the desk dude forgot to screw in the fuse or similar. Pop stated some of the equipment required the fuse cover be loosened to kept stuff from shorting and the super trooper would forget to reseat it as part of his preflight!

Post 50's military - beyond any doubt the C-141 for me.
Always has been, always will be. Was my first assignment right out of tech school. Place could do some absolutely incredible things.
That outfir you mentioned - tell 'em I want some of what they were smokin!! :
That was and still is an incredibly reliable plane. Nuff said. Crews can be incredibly stupid and vengefull at times.

Yeah, I know man. It's special but I never really got to work on those. Flew IN 'em a couple of times, that's about it. The 141 could still do a couple of tricks the 5 couldn't and those really rattled my cage good man, that's why I hang on to that bugger. Too bad the 141 couldn't kneel to courtsey the C5 LOL
