Hi,

I've just posted a reply to a post of OldMajorDave and related an OK xp with T-bred 2000+ on my A7V133 Rev 1.05. (Bios 1009).

Shortly resumed:

Jumper mode
VIO: 3.3
Mutlipl. 12.5x
FSB 133

A first attempt with VIO 3.3V and jumperless mode was OK but no more boot the next day..? In jumperless I've also tried the 5.0x/13.0x in the Bios, system did boot but used the 5.0x

Stable and no heat. Didn't really see a difference in applications with my previous Athlon 1333.

Asus mention at least a Rev 1.05. (2 dots) board for running the T-bred.

Good luck
Maurice

another lucky guy (MAP)!!
I see a big difference with my old Ath 900, in 3D games and in DVD playing.
the nice thing, it is that for a small amount of money, around 73 euros, one can give a much long lifetime to the computer. I can run with no problems many present games, although the graphic card will have to be changed sometime in the future...
by the way i have a version 1.04. (two dots). is it maybe the second dot which makes the difference ? and not the version number itself ?

About the Rev and dot of A7V133, on the following link:

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/cpusu...pusupport.aspx

ASUS gives some indications about A7V133 and Athlon XP.

If I go right the "Model 6" are Palomino and the "Model 8" are T-bred.

If I'm right again then:

All T-bred up to 2100+ need board revision 1.05. and can only be driven in jumper mode. At least Bios 1008 is needed.

Palomino up to 2100+ need Rev 1.05. for a jumperless use or 1.05 for jumper use.

Well there're many posts available showing that an older Rev can also be OK for the Palomino. Maybe that ASUS statement is more critical for T-bred.

well so ar here is what i got

just got my 1700+ in the mail today
board is a asus a7v133 1.05 "no dot"

bios i think is 1.008

I tried both jumper and jumperless mode with no luck,

previously on the system i had a duron 1.3 with no problems,
then i switched the cpu and windows didnt like it,

its windos xp professional,
when I booted i had the old style start menu and 3dmark wouldnt run,

nothing big, figured it would happen since it happened when I went from a celeron to a p3,

so i just threw windows on top of windows "usally works"

nope didnt help, so i formated and tried installing,

when installing the first set of files i get tons of errors saying files are missing etc...

so i cleaned the cd and still didnt help and was on the same files.

then I put it back in jumperless mode and nocked the fsb down to 90mhz and the ram down to 90mhz

so far it installed with only one missing file, should be done n about 15 minutes,

also i have not yet updated the bios but i will when it is finished.

also it wont even post when i run jumperless and put the fsb on 133, but if i just run jumperless it will boot up and run at 100mhz default

if i run jumpered it will boot and post as 133fsb

ok so heres the ltest

I tried swapping the burner for a standard cd-rom since it wasnt reading or copying files correctly,
didnt help,

tried unhooking the ethernet card, sound card, and switched to a pci graphics card,
didnt help,

so i bumped the bus back down to 90mhz and burned a new copy of windows xp professional,

still didnt help ith that one luna file,
so i just kept pressing enter and finally it copied it,

now im back in xp but there seems to be some issues,
i will install drivers and see if it works them out,

but i do have the nice new style start menu interface again

nope nada,
kaput when i bump the bus above 90 nothing, it craps

so I give up,

I decided if im gonna put the duron 1.3 back in then Im unlocking it,

well did you all know you not only have to connect all the L1 bridges but also have to cut one L10 bridge and connect the oppisit
http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/ht..._painting.html

well its just about impossible to cut a bridge, took a dremel to get the job done,
think its cause the sip is ceramic

ah well its back up and runs stable as an ox @133mhz x 10
yeah its basically the same speed but now runs at the 133mhz bus

well probably ont buy another a7v133 so time to start researching a new board

it will still work for what i ultimatly bought it for, a file server

good luck to the rest of you and i hope all this info helps

Hi,
got:
a7vkt133a, revision 1.05 recently bought , searched for it...
bios 1010a beta
Athlon XP 1700+ (8 I believe, not verified, thoroughbred?)

All jumpers default for now, been meddling a lot lately.
Canīt get passed 1250 Mhz and AMDīs utility ID:s cpu as Duron(!!!???)

Question: What about those dots? Please explain...

Question: Been all over my jumpers except for PCI Voltage, should I set it to 3.3?

Question: Rest of jumpers recommended settings?
Question: BIOS recommended CPU settings?

Sorry to be so explicit but It seems it is difficult to get straight, clear answers anymore...

I am also rather frustrated...and pissed...

OS: XP Pro SP1

Thanks....
