Great Board For Only $43

Browsing new egg the other day and found a very cheap board.

http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/P4i45GV%20R5.htm

Made by asrock.

My System:
Celeron 1.8 (Had It For A While)
($43)ASRock P4i45GV R5 Motherboard
($39)256MB Twinmos DDR PC2700
($49)Seagate 7200.7 80GB PATA
($17)LG 52x CDROM

The best part is the entire motherbaord is integrated, it has the not so poular intel extreame graphics and a C Media audio codec which in my opinion is quite nice and feature rich. Included is a AMR modem which give you a complete system in the end. Even though 56k's are antiquated most people still like them for backup.

The install was impressive, everything worked perfect and it is very speedy. For a celeron I mean. The AGP slot support 4x and 8x only no 2x or 1x.

I plan on just selling this in the local paper. I more or less just wanted to try it out and for the price asrock has really impressed me.

I have been using asrock boards for inexpensive Intel builds for some time. You can't beat them for the money. The quality was much better than the soyo I tried.

Re: Great Board For Only $43

Thats great to know. Quality is very important. I just clicked on the link for details about the ASRock P4i45GV R5. Its not the ATX board I thought it would be is it? Micro ATX. Do you have a Micro ATX case like those Shuttles XPC's? What do you use it for the most?

I use them for inexpensive Intel builds. They generally house a 2.8 478 Prescott, or a 3.0 775 Prescott. For running stock speeds very stable and a nice blue color for the window cases. I used to use biostar boards for my inexpensive amd builds now I have found asrock for my inexpensive Intel builds. I have not had one die yet. I have 2 gig of pc3200 ram in one as well.

Re: Great Board For Only $43

3dfxrain,

You want to know the truth, I found a nice case with PII system in the trash and the motherbaord was toast, but whoever had this computer kept the case in perfect shape and I mean brand new shape.

I gutted it, and built this combo simply to get rid of some stuff I had laying around. And to just try it out. But no it is not a small shuttle case, just a regular atx mid tower.

IMO, Soyo isn't too bad, but they have 2 things that can improve on: the manuals suck. How much more vauge can you get? The second part would be memory performance, as they seem to be a little slow in that department.
