Upgrading to 64

I got a DFI NFII Ultra with a xp 3000 cpu.Im thinking of going to the 64 route to a DFI NF3 250gb with a 3000 cpu.I just got a BFG 6800gt so i dont want to go socket 939.
Would it be worth upgrading to this and would i notice a big difference in games performance?
Thanks.

I was in an identical position as you.

I didn't want to go 939 as I wanted AGP not a cash decision. The DFI nf3 is awesome, my xp3000 Newcastle is flying.

Re: Upgrading to 64

I agree, if you want to stick with AGP, may as well just get s754. A lot of people are having no trouble clocking the newer 3400+ chips to 2.7 and 2.8, which will easily put you at or above 4000+ performance levels, maybe even FX-55 levels in some cases.

The DFI 250 is a great board. I've got one myself and have no trouble overclocking my .13 Sempron 3100+ to 2.4 and even 2.6 on a measly 1.6v (too hot though, need better cooling than stock )

we know that, but I think that many people feel the performance of 939 alone does not justify an upgrade, so why upgrade to 939 if you're not going to get PCIe as well? (which at the current time also has little to no performance benefit, and with ATI planning native AGP parts all the way up to R520, AGP isn't dying any time soon)

Pobably better to upgrade but you could always try it out first.

Re: Upgrading to 64

the question of whether that's enough psu really depends on if you plan on overclocking at all. the power requirements go up exponentially when you increase clock speeds. if it's not enough, you'll know because stability will be an issue.
