see sig.. but my usb only works at 1.1 speeds. For one thing, i shouldnt need to install any drivers since XP SP1 and over has 2.0 support anyway w/ drivers. But ive installed them from my nvidia chipset drivers and 2 sets from DFI's website for my mobo. nothing's worked. I know my thumbdrive supports it b/c i tested it on my roomates computer and it's real fast. Does anyone else have any ideas? the only ports i havent tried are my front ports... all 4 back ports dont work
oh yeah, and it's enabled in the bios too.

Are you sure that the front case USB lead is pin combatable with mobo, Try disconnecting front usb & seeing how it runs the. A lot of case leads & Mobo headers aren't compatable, some Antec Cases need a lead removing b4 they work with MSI boards.
If that's not the issue are you sure the bios settings are correct for usb.

I am having the exact same issue with my DFI NF4 Ultra MOBO. When I look in the hardware listing under My Computer, some of the ports are listed as USB 2.0 and others are not. I've run the Windoze update to get all the service packs, and installed the USB 2 drivers from the CD. Still no luck.
when i first tried to take your advice i looked in device manager and i had 2 USB areas... one was the standard windows stuff and the other was for the nvidia drivers... b/c i installed that second set. I tried to uninstall the windows based drivers and promptly lost control of my mouse, then i rebooted and windows found the usb again and installed and then i had it again... so then i go and "update drivers" on my nvidia drivers and windows update installs some 2002 version of windows drivers over my nvidia drivers, and then combines it w/ the other set of windows usb drivers.... wth... so nothing's changed and my usb is still slow.
but what i did anyway was uninstall my entire usb tree... each of the individual branches... rebooted, let it find the stuff again and install. then i went to update each driver from windows update and NONE of them updated to a newer version. so then i tried the fourth port i hadnt tried yet and it was still slow.... nothing's worked yet
Nope,
I can only reiterate that I had the same problem.
I had initially used my old xp copy and loaded USB drivers from CD. I then reformated using a slipstreamed XPpro SP2 nLite version, and I am on USB2.0. sorry I couldn't help. Hope you get it sorted out. GL
so i took a shot in the dark and lowered my fsb to stock, 200, and put my cpu at 2200MHz to see if that was interferring... nope... still slow as sh*t.... any other suggestions
the drivers from the cd are not to be used if you are running windows xp.
sp1 has all the usb drivers needed for this os. perhaps you could try a repair install.

would you crunch if you thought it would save her life?
maybe it will!
The link shows my usb set up in device manager. Xp Sp2 USB
The Enhanced tab is how USB2 shows up Each usb node installs the driver to suit the device therefore not all Usb ports are given Enhanced (usb2) status
jdawg683's suggestion is right by deleting the tree. Alternatively simply unplugging all the devices reboot & re-connect them after rebooting.
My installation is a slipstreamed SP2 on Nvidia3 250 chipset.
my device manager looks EXACTLY like the one pictured above... except i have a "generic usb hub" (b/c my thumbdrive was plugged in) right above the Enhanced blah blah blah part. why doesnt mine work then? ive tried all four ports w/ my thumbdrive and nothing works.
i read somewhere else that it might be an APIC problem, so i disabled it in my bios but it didnt make any difference.
I am considering trying the front usb ports to see if those work... what do you guys think?
Do you think it could be b/c ive installed windows as an ACPI computer instead of the default Uniprocessor PC? I dont see why that would matter though.
