Webroot Spy Sweeper for runtime protection , use Ad-Aware , Spy Bot , MS anti-spyware and Spyware Blaster for on demand scans . Use Hijack this on occasion for the sticky ones .
Well, Ad-Aware and Sypbot seem to be the runaway leaders at the moment. I wonder why more people don't trust/use the MS product - it's actually not that bad
Really? I was under the impression it was pretty poor.
In my experience it does detect some things that other products miss, which is generally true of most products and only goes to highlight the importance of running multiple scanners. Equally, it misses some things others detect. It also detects some things that I would consider as false positives, such as VNC, which I find a little annoying but I can understand why some products would have these in their database.
I dont use any cuse I dont have any spyware/adware in my computers. And its not a POS.
If you don't use any scanners, how do you know you don't have any spyware/adware on your computers? I would be very surprised that you don't even have the odd data mining cookie unless of course you've completely disabled cookies or don't visit any other websites except PC Perspective.
I've yet to see a (Windows) computer that visits a fair cross section of websites not have the occasional piece of adware/spyware, and beleive me when I say I've seen more than a few
I have also found that SPYDOCTOR is a good product, along with XOFTSPY and PESTPATROL too. I have found that when the freebies just dont' cut it, these purchaseable software packages find lots of spyware I didn't know I had.
I use Spybot, MS-anti, Spywareblaster, and Ad-aware. I browse around lots of places so I would get around 40 cookies per start-up scan on Spybot. Later on, I added an ad-host block text file to my hosts file, and now I barely get 2 or 3 cookies if any.
my box: trend micro internet security 2004(active), and the rest for weekly scanning: webroot spysweeper, adaware, spybot s&d, spywareblaster. i also check out the free scanners i see get posted in the pcper forums.
my old lady's box : norton internet security 2004(active w/ user accounts), m$ antispyware(active), webroot spysweeper(active), adaware, spybot s&d with browser helper, and spywareblaster.
i never get anything on my box. when i had her running WinME she would occassionally get viral infections and adware/spyware. upgraded her to XPHome when it was on sale for $40 a few months back. she and 2 teenage boys use the cp and no infections since switching to xphome. both machines run sp2 also.
