and should i get a directx 9 or 10 card? will they even be making games for 10 considering it is vista only?
and i would actually prefer it to be $150 or less... i juts decided on that one since it was a little more for more power. i probably don't need it though.

DX10 is just nto a big factor yet and in DX9 I prefer either a 7900GS or 1950 of some flavor

I agree with Dan on this one. The Sapphire X1950 pro's have been known to have issues.
not issues, but if the yare at the same pricepoint, get the his. better cooler. the sapphires are good, coolers a bit less gud then the other pricier cards. so unles you have dead airflow in the case, no problemo there. i always look at the price. if the coolers better, 10$ more or so is worth it.if not, screw it
thanks
I bought the connect3d x1950xt so when it comes in i will tell you about it. Looks good for the price. Not much of a selection in that price range. That card is a killer card for that price.

I know a few people here on the forums that had issues with that particular card. Just giving some what of a heads up is all..
I'm kind of in the same boat. I think I have it narrowed down to 2 cards now: X1950GT and 7900GS. Both cards have 256MB of onboard RAM. The X1950GT is ~$120 AR and the 7900GS is ~100 AR (BFG OC version too). What do you guys think? I'll be using it play games at 1680x1050 with my 20" LCD. Need advice quick, though because the deal on the BFG 7900GS expires soon! Thanks.
i bought the his x1950 pro to hold me over, and i'm quite happy with the decision. i have found that the card overclocks well if you turn up the pci-e frequency, but if you're aiming for that, make sure you get the iceq version or something with a better cooler than the regular single slot(i get 641/769 with my single slot but i gotta turn it down to 630's/750's on warmer days). the x1950 performs better at stock clocks than the 7900gs while providing better image quality.
birdie if you can get the 7900gs for 100 bucks, i would go with that, that's quite a deal. i'm saying that because i'm not sure how well the x1950gt stacks up against it (basically its a lower clocked pro right? is it more overclockable maybe?) I just wouldn't expect to be able to turn everything up on every game at that resolution. on my pro, i can max the regular stuff at 1440x900, but on some games i have to lighten up on the aa/af, although 16x af and 2x adaptive aa is usually doable on the more demanding titles.
