hi, i'm using utorrent as my bt client and have used it on my laptop for some time without a problem. i've set up port triggering in our linksys router (wrt54gs) and that always seemed to work for the laptop. whatever port i used in the range i set for triggering would show up green and say it was accepting incoming connections.
for some reason this is no longer working for my desktop. i've even tried setting up portforwarding instead of triggering for this machine and no go.
i had btdefender 2008 installed on both machine and this is the only one giving me trouble. i even went as far as uninstalling bitdefener and it didn't work.
windows firewall is off.
i have the computers wired to a wireless print server. check all the settings in it's firmware and nothing should be holding me back.
i've checked and rechecked the settings i need for utorrent to recieve incomming connections and nothing.
i just can't figure out what's wrong
i've got indent ports set up for forwarding and that works fine.
any ideas?

just to cover the bases. when you setup port forwarding for the desktop did you forget to put the ip address in too by any chance?
another thing you could try is enabling UPnp. applications should automatically setup port forwardings as they need them. ive had success with those methods. though i prefer to manually setup my port forwardings as i need them.
its something you could try. one thing to note if you do enable Upnp is that you may ahve to restart the machine/applications to get it to work after enabling. i ran into this with my xbox. it would setup the forwarding after i enabled upnp until i restarted it. (it was on at the time i changed the configuration).
your motherboard is the nf4. did you by any chance install nvidias firewall when you installed the nforce drivers? it could be you have that firewall up and blocking ports on your desktop
ditto. also sometimes it just doesnt pick it up(yellow+error). ive seen it on some mobos, i think its got to do with the lan port or something. msn craps out on most of the prublematic ones too.

i'll check on the nvfirewall, but i'm pretty sure i don't have it, i remember one time installing it and it screwing everything up, so i don't believe i do but i'll check.
also how do you enable upnp? do you mean in the router? my firewall? or utorrent?
and to dan, i was thinking maybe is was messing up, but when i use their port checker it says it's closed too. right now it's actually red instead of yellow, which says i'm not connectable.
i have 6 out of 6 seeds connected right now according to utorrent and 2 out of 11 peers for the one torrent i'm downloading. torrent seems definately slower on this machine than it was on my laptop (and if anyone has followed either of my other threads they know what that's all about)
is there anyway i could have someone else check my utorrent port? or would that be unadviseable? or is there another site or app i could use to check if it's open?

No, it's definitely not advisable to post your public IP and port information in a public forum
EDIT: I've just scanned port 6881 on your current IP address and it's showing as filtered (ie, not open but firewalled or behind a router).
i use 6885 you sneaky bastage
that site shows that its either closed or stealthed.
either way someone else could be using that port on our network for bt and it may show open, but for me for whatever reason it's not working. it seems like the router is restricting my machine somehow or my machine is restricting that port.
To be honest (if you do not have some hidden fire wall loaded) I'd say that your router has not picked up on the forwarded port or you maybe did not set it up correctly. Did you follow the instructions at portforward.com for your router? You may need to reset your router for the router to pick up on your new settings. But I think I'd double check your process of forwarding your ports.

used the same process i always have, always worked in the best, it wasn't too long ago i was having no such problems with bt on this machine.
still having problems? pm me what torrent u got issues with, and il lsee if its slow as well on my end. soemtimes it makes little difference, other times its 10x slower

same with any torrent, tried torrents with nearly 1000 seeds and while it's faster i'm still not accepting connections which severly cripples speed in most cases.
btw i tried resetting the router (unplugging and plugging back in) and still no go.
if it says 5k seeds that dont mean ure getting them green light or not. remember, the foced encryption is tehre to protect ure sorry arse and if ppl chose not to accept legacy conenctions then yes itll be slow liek hell even if its got all the seeds available to man

umm, if it says i'mm connect the this many out of this many seeds, then i'm connected to them. may or may not be recieving from them depnding on queing, but the connections are there, i can confirm that in my firewall, netstat would probably confirm it as well.
just ran a netstat and there's a crapload of connections, was downloading the latest episode of heroes with 2700+ seeds, thing kept going and going, had to stop the torrent to get it to stop.
still no green light though and the port is still showing as blocked. i believe this only stops remote connections, correct?
to enable upnp there should be a tab labeled upnp under applications and settings. basically click the application tab to get to the sub sections for port forwarding etc. and there should be a tab up there with port forwarding labeled as upnp and under that tab you can enable it.
theres gotta be something somewhere blocking that port it sounds like.
