Yup me too. I've seen the coming ASUS & Gigabyte gems that will cost allot. Can't wait to see what this board will bring in the OC department.

Re: Biostar 770

I love AMD but wasn't too nuts about the last board I owned with one of their chipsets. I believe it was a Gigabyte GA-7DXR with an AMD 761 chipset. Board was OK but I ran into a lot of hardware conflicts. Kinda has me wondering if they designed the chip or ATI designed it. Seems to be more boards with "AMD" chipsets knocking around now that they've joined forces with ATI or is it just me thinking that?

Re: Biostar 770

Can't speak from experience but the last AMD chipset was suppose to be pretty good. This board has HT 3.0 I think.

Re: Biostar 770

radio , I had one of those MSI boards K9A Plat that had a amd chipset , it ran pretty fast , but I hated that MSI used a AMI bios . I always had trouble with AMI and MSI , seems that they dont like it when you disable USB mouse support , it happens with evry one I have had no matther what chipset . But a Biostar built around a AMD chipset sounds interesting , I would chance it because AMD chipsets run cooler then nvidias

That old amd chipset you refer to the 761 , wasnt too bad , you just had to run the right board . I remember well running that chipset on a Abit board , ah those were the days when abit was realy king

yes I saw that 2 but acording to the biostar website it only supports Hyper Transport Technology up to 2G while the 770 does HT3.0 . IMO the 770 has a better layout as opposed to the 570

Re: Biostar 770

generally yes, the height of the chipset cooler will psoe some problems i nsoem cases. i just lovet he 570sli's thing one. bit noisy if u dont control it.
also, the tr sli chipset cooler wont fit i think, so ull have to use the straight one.

and..wth is thte auxuliary 12v power thign there? its not an sli board for craps sake

power filtering looks ok.

check this out :

and then this.

hard to believe tehyre from the same company no? gonna try to find the first one, looks liek somebody forgot to add stuff on the pcb im really curious on how it handles things..too bad its not for am2 tough

first pic is for layout
second for power filtering. both are teh cheapest of the bunch yet theyre astonishing in their own

Re: Biostar 770

do you honestly think the ht3 is gonna make any diffrance with a home systems performance?

from all i can tell they are only bringing ht3 and dual volt planes over to am2 because they are part of the server side and they want to keep everything as close to the same as possable.

you can lower your HT all the way down to 600mhz b4 you see any perf hit with todays chips, i cant see 2g being a bottleneck nomatter how much they improved the power of the k10 over the current chips.

i can see on the server side where the extra bandwith would be needed, if your running 2-4-6-8+ quadcore chips you could need the extra bandwith, and the multi plane voltege would be usefull for large servers, unused cores could/would effectivly go to sleep using very little power saving the company energy and hopefully improving the life of the chip(less heat=longer life as we all know)

and yes that board looks nice, but till i see how well it overclocks and how good the bios tweaks are i wont judge it, could take them a few months to get the bios to the level of the tforce550 just like it took a few revisions to get the 550 bios up to snuff for overclocking.

besides, im quite happy with my 550, i can hit 340mhz stable (as far as i can push it with this chip and stock chipset cooling anyway)

Re: Biostar 770

shouldnt make any
true about first revisions, altough tforce boards are like lanparty back in the day, minus the quirks/instabilita

server side not only number of cpus but monstrous amount of memory. not sure meself how that works out with more speed to ht but...

No I don't think it will be much but:

1) There must be some trick to the clip that holds the video card because the third time I switched cards using a screwdriver like a numskull I hit my 560 board and now it starts really slow because I hit MB traces.

2) I am interested in the new AMD overdrive utility because very few of the utilities work in Vista. I have written Biostar to see if the new 770 board will support it.

3) I am going to replace my 560 board because I stabbed it. I might get another or I might get one of the new AMD boards, time will tell.

Re: Biostar 770

well one of the things that realy cought my eye on the board is a 8 pin power connector instead of the standard 4 pin P4 connector, should supply more clean power to the CPU . And I am betting that a quad core AMD cpu is going to need that 8pin conector

DAN could you please resize your picks , my screen is crouded even at 1024x768 thanks !

conntact biostar and rma the board, as longas the mark dosnt stick out to much they wont even see it, hell could put a small round sticker over it

i know its not the most honest way but hell the will just send it to the philipenes and have somebody fix it for them and then they will resell it(no joke my aunt is from their and they use to be payed well to lay and repair traces.)

if you want a higher end board i could be talked into a trade for this m2n-sli delux i have sitting around waiting for a new home(im out of cases!!!!!)

Re: Biostar 770

I was going to RMA but I was the dummy. I'll just pay for a new one.

I appreciate the offer but I want one of the new 770's.
