The new 8800GTS... Is this really all it's got?

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...on-review.html

After reading that review, i cant help but feel disappointed. I was hoping to step up to this model from an 8800GTS 320. Nvidia shouldn't let their higher priced cards be beaten by the GT!

Thoughts?

It is a great card but if you already got a 320er wait and step up to a 9800

When is the 9800 coming? I've got roughly 40 days left on my step up

Re: The new 8800GTS... Is this really all it's got?

i've heard we may see 9xxx cards by the end of the month, the end of the year, or well into next year.

it's anyones guess.

with 40 days to step up hold off as long as you can, there's been talk of a g92 based gts coming out this month. gts may not be what nv decides to call it, but it will be an uncrippled version of the g92 used in the 8800gt, meaning 128sp instead of 112.

i have 12 days to step up myself and i'm crossing my fingers that this card surfaces.

i was hoping the 112sp g80 gts would do better against the 8800gt. now if i have to choose between the two for my stepup i'm really not sure which to pick.

the 8800gts does better at higher res and in dx10, but not a great deal more. the 8800gt may oc better and diminish that lead or overtake it.

i'll wait for some more reviews, [H] has said they'll be reviewing it as well.

this is really going to be a tough decision.

With the 8800GT beeing barely slower than the 8800GTX, you can't really expect much from the 112SP G80

But thats not the really new GTS. There GTS's come with 512 mb and 1024 mb. And the core is the G92.

And the 9800 is not coming this year no matter how much you wish it would. It's next year.

Re: The new 8800GTS... Is this really all it's got?

The rumours were that the new GTS will be coming out on the 16th (heard it back in october, before the release of the GT).

I forget where I heard the exact date, but this article says somewhere in mid november:
http://neoseeker.com/news/story/7240/

This article says a couple of days after the release of AMD's 3800:
http://www.dailytech.com/But+Wait+Th...rticle9474.htm

This article (from the site that had the very first 8800GT review) says December 3rd:
http://www.expreview.com/news/hard/2...1170d6733.html

Please take the nov. 16th lightly, as I have no clue whether or not it is true
