Vista and Intel ICH9 drivers

New P35 chipset board. Install chipset drivers, everything seems ok. Vista says a problem was found and links to the Intel web site and prompts a driver install. Is this necessary or a Vista glitch? Device Manager didn't show any errors. Thanks.

I believe it's a Vista glitch and that you'll need to work at it until you get the device installed. Is it constantly asking for drivers on each boot?

In Device Manager, do you have any Unknown Devices (under Other Devices)? Delete that and reboot and see how you go.

Re: Vista and Intel ICH9 drivers

There were no unknown devices. I'm thinking Vista didn't like the driver provided by Gigabyte. I'm going to reinstall this weekend and I'll try it again.

Re: Vista and Intel ICH9 drivers

Just install the drivers directly from the Intel web site and everything works fine. Vista should direct you to the download.

Re: Vista and Intel ICH9 drivers

ICH8 driver comes with Vista, and looks like it is same device ID as ICH9, driver says Intel ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R SATA RAID Controller.
