K8T Neo2-F V2.0, Bios does not see SATAS in RAID mode; only IDE.
Greetings:
After at least four years of rock solid service, I've shelved my Abit NF7 2.0 board in favor of a K8T Neo2-F V2.0 and Manchester 3600.
Install and boot were uneventful, but I soon discovered that the only way the BIOS can see my SATA drives (2) DMax 10 6L200SO) is with "IDE" selected under the SATA controller portion of the bios - not RAID. The drives were RAIDED from my old setup, but no longer. In addition, when the bios is set for RAID, the following message is thrown on boot: "Have option ROM can't be invoke, vendor ID 1106H, device ID 3149H." A cursory search of Google reveals a handful of these episodes with this particular board, and the device ID suggests the SATA controller. I called TigerDirect and they passed me on to MSI phone tech. Nice guys, but not very helpful. You'd think they would have heard of this one before. According to my Web search, the remedy in most cases is to flash to an earlier bios - the "invoke" message usually shows after a new bios is loaded. I tried flashing from the current 3.6 bios to 3.5, and 3.4, but got a "unknown flash type" message. Since then I've downloaded WinFlash and flashed with a modded 3.6 bios that unlocks the PCI from the FSB for OCing. I no longer get the message, but still no RAID. That was the first time I've used WinFlash I guess I can try to flash the two prior releases and see what happens.
Does anyone have a notion what might be going on here?

I've formatted and reformatted, but I can give it a tray. There wasn't a single item that can't be easily replaced given time, and since my board won't have to be RMA'd, I'm feeling pretty pleased right now. Thanks,

this is what i have. they have a trial download that will let you look at what's there but will only recover very small files. it has saved me several times.

Bilar - Thank you so much for your informative posts - I've seen them here and on tech power up re: this board. Not much info out there on this board really... can't believe MSI is still shipping a buggy 3.6 bios oye.
Hopefully I can pass some interesting info on to you now, as i screwed with this board for quite a long time before finding your posts and trying to downgrade to 3.6.
I actually got SATA RAID to work in 3.6. It's REALLY buggy for sure! To get the Option Rom for the RAID controller to load, you must enable the option in the BIOS for "Onboard LAN Option ROM". I know, it makes no sense. But it seems by disabling the LAN option rom, as most users would, it actually disables the RAID bios too.
Even more buggy? When you ENABLE the LAN option rom, to get RAID to work, you LOSE your ability for DOS USB Keyboard support. The option for USB Keyboard goes greyed out. You can actually enable it, but when you go to the next option, it gets disabled and grey'd out again and the setting never "sticks". Hella buggy. Turn OFF the LAN option ROM, and the USB keyboard support works again! But you lose RAID! Arrrggggh!!
So I've been using 3.6 for a while now and when I need dos keyboard... changing these options back.. So buggy.
I'm about to try the German 3.5 Modded bios as my "final solution" as I've seen nothing better and it looks like you've had good luck. And I'd like to try OC'ing this board to get more time out of it. So thanks in advance, just thought you'd find this interesting.

Wow....that's valuable information right there...excellent work! Have you
tried to contact MSI with your findings? They weren't very responsive
when I told them about the 3.6 bios shortcomings.

Very interesting. It's really been a pretty good bios. I no longer use the motherboard - it's in my brother-in-law's rig and is still doing very nicely. He
prefers not to OC, so should last forever. The only trouble I ever had
with the board besides the bios is that going from SATA to IDE drives
seem to corrupt data, especially in large chunks. Fortunately,
he only runs SATA drives, so it's not a problem.
I managed to pick up a Tyan s2866 socket 939 server motherboard, new on
e-bay for around $50.00....it's got 3 PCI's and two PCIe sockets for SLI.
I put an Opteron 180 in it, 4 gigs of ram, and it'll pretty much run
with most any average modern rig....should last me a few years.
