Re: Trying ATI Folding Again and..............

Can you check the log for us and post the server (IP) which it is trying to connect to, please ?

I found this server to be DOWN for now:
Quote:
171.64.122.70__GPU__VSP03__-__full___DOWN
.

and

Quote:
171.67.108.21__GPU__vsp07b__vvoelz__full___Reject
.
doesn't work either ...

You can always check a server's connectivity by entering its IP address in the URL bar of a webbrowser and hitting ENTER.

If everything is OK, it should return OK on a blank page (in the top left hand corner) ...

171.64.122.70 gives a "The connection has timed out" message after a while ...

I 'm getting my (nVIDIA GPU) stuff from 171.67.108.11 and returning to 171.164.65.106, which are both 100% and active ...

Re: Trying ATI Folding Again and..............

mine have been coming consistently from 171.64.65.102.

you might want to uninstall and delete any folders. then download a new installer.

Bruce (from Stanford support) has notified the appropriate Pande Group people about the problem with 171.67.108.17:80 / 171.64.65.102:80 ...

Re: Trying ATI Folding Again and..............

Right about the time I was reading this thread earlier, none of my stuff could be turned in or get new work - finally, just a minute ago I got more work, but I'll have to check through the logs if the WUs got sent yet ...

Really took a hit on my points the last 24 hours lol

I was having a problem with 171.64.65.56, but it appears to be working finally, after all these hours

In FahMon what heck does the color blue mean and what is this "working+" thingie???? This 4870, for me, seems to be turning into a total bust for folding!

This is something Stanford needs to address. The current and newer ATI GPUs have monster gaming power, and nvidia doesn't have much to offer for 6 months. They are even axing their high end GPUs. At this rate Stanford will lose some serious folding power.

When my 8800gts dies, I gonna be looking at ATI again, folding be damned.

Re: Trying ATI Folding Again and..............

I would wait till this is out:
Updates on new cores: Protomol and GPU3 core

On the other hand, Gaming does not equal F@H power, perse ...
The Folding power depends on the right hardware architecture and good quality supporting software and drivers to implement F@H in the GPU system.

nVIDIA has good architecture supported by their CUDA software, so for the past time, they were topping F@H power.

This could all change with GPU3 which is using better and more OpenMM code.
The interaction with the maker specific software (like CUDA) and new hardware architecture will determine the F@H yield of these new GPU systems ...

More on F@H and OpenMM: http://folding.typepad.com/news/2007/11/openmm.html
