Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

Hi All, I just upgraded my Media PC to Win7.

Installed latest drivers + windows updates. Now when I set my screen resolution to 1920x1080 (native resolution of my Samsung LA40A680) the screen says "mode not supported".

I had to plug in my gaming PC monitor in to change the resolution to 1360x768 to make it at least operable.

Now what it looks like is that for some reason defaulting to 59Hz instead of 60Hz. Is there anyway of overriding this?

Thanks for your help

Re: Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

OK, pretty much baffled here, If I go to "Desktops and Displays" in CCC, and right click on my monitor down the bottom and go to "Configure" I get a couple of extra options. If I turn EDID and make the maimum possible resolution 1920x1200 at 60Hz then everything turns peachy, this monitor will do 1920x1200 but not 1920x1080.

Does that sound right to anyone else for a 1080p monitor?

Re: Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

My Samsung T240 defaults to 59Hz as well, but I've not noticed any problems setting the res (1920 x 1200), and since I don't use it as a TV I've not needed any other res. Sorry that's probably fairly limited help!

No that's lots of help! Do you think that 1920x1200 might be the native res?

Re: Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

Hello,

I have noticed that the CCC will usually say its @ 59 Hz, but if I go into the monitors menu and look at the stats it reports it @ 60 Hz. Maybe you should try another third party program that will tell you. But also, in the CCC there is a section where you can actually force resolutions and refresh rates.

In the CCC, go to "Desktop Properties" on the bottom right side you will see a large box that says "Force", click on that and you will see the options there to force resolutions and refresh rates. Hope that helps!

Re: Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

my asus vw266h also shows 59hz in the nvidia control panel, it has the option to switch to 60hz but always defaults back to 59

it's probably actually something more like 59.9hz

my osd shows 60hz btw.

Re: Windows 7 Screen Refresh Rate

I had the same 59hz issue in Windows 7. It was causing a sort of stuttering
with the cut-scenes in Dragon Age so I looked into it.

Ah! Here's a complete walk-through of the fix for you guys:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...dia-brand.html

Trust me, it works. I have nice, smooth cut-scenes again!
