Tessellation Goodness

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2009/...1_tessellation

good article from [H] showing off what tessellation can add to games.

it's obvious they took some shortcut rendering the non tessellation versions of their engine, like turning stairs into ramps or even the terracotta roof could have been done better even without tessellation, but it shows that with tessellation on you don't need to worry as much about those textures since they'll gain detail on the fly, and lots of it.

Looks cool. Somehow I bet the GPU manufacturers had something to do with it. You'll need an even faster cards than what's being sold currently to make good use of it, in future games.

tessellation is part of dx11. i wouldn't put it past game devs or gpu manufacturers to want to increase the quality of graphics.

it's very scalable, you don't need as beefy a card as you think to use some level of tessellation. that's probably the best part.
