Console - X360 scaler questions

If I used a DVI-HDMI cable with a 1920x1200 monitor, would I be able to FX AR scale or 1:1 pixel map to 1080p and 720p? What would I do about sound though?

I was thinking about getting an X360 Arcade version for my B-day in time for summer to play Sonic4, and I don't have an HDTV because they all suck compared to my Apple Cinema LCD 24 in.

Finally, is the Jasper revision immune to the RRoD?

Re: X360 scaler questions

As far as I know all scaling is done on the receiving end ie in an AV-amp or the display, so you either tell your monitor to stretch the image a bit or get 60 pixels worth of black top and bottom.

Doesn't the awesome apple display handle sound?

No.

Re: X360 scaler questions

If it's just for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 -- I'd wait a bit. There's still a fourth system to be announced... and I doubt it's OnLive. Likely could be PC/Mac (Steam?).

I mean it could be OnLive... but I doubt it (and hope not).

Apart from OnLive and Steam (or some other PC platform), there's not a whole lot of Digital Distribution sources left... iPad maybe?

Re: X360 scaler questions

I've had a Jasper coming up on a year now and zero problems so far.

I have to disagree with your comment about HDTVs. We have our 360 connected to a 61" 1080p DLP and it's amazing. To each his own I guess.

You could always mention that Apple Cinema Displays are all made by LG and share the same panel as many other LG LCD displays -- but <shrugs>

((P.S. -- By LG, I of course mean LG.Philips... the jointly-owned company... but Philips always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to LCD panels so I always call it just "LG"))

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to death that it's the PC or the PSP, but I doubt it will be. I need a ton of other things too.

We have to agree too. Have all our consoles connected through an AV amp, 360 & PS3 via HDMI, PS2 & Wii via component, and the DreamCast via s-video as the component hookup for that is wacky. Oh yeah, PSP via component sometimes too
